Finding a Quality Irrigation Contractor/Designer
• Verify the contractor's credentials, certifications and licenses. In Hamilton County, contractors are required to have ...
• Does the contractor and his employees have the necessary license and insurance?• Is the contractor able to secure bonding?
• What are the contractor/designer credentials (formal training, references, contractor/designer certification by the Irrigation Association)?
• Does the contractor/designer belong to the local or national Irrigation Association and abide by their standards?
• Ask for proof of liability insurance
• Request to see a portfolio of past work
• Talk to local references
• Make sure they inspect your property before they bid (some contractors even offer design services)
• Get a written bid
• Make certain all bids are on the same products and/or services
• Beware of low bidders - they often take shortcuts that may cost you more down the road
• Insist on a written contract
• Set a time limit on installation
• Be sure the contractor will obtain required permits
• Be sure they install the backflow preventer required by local codes to protect drinking water
• Find the professional to do the work that will satisfy you.
